For Beginners

For beginners, a local area lift pass will give you plenty to keep you occupied. This will get you over to the neighbouring and beginner-friendly resort of Morzine, but won't include Super-Morzine or Avoriaz beyond. A full-area lift pass will be required for these more distant destinations. Ski schools in Les Gets are excellent for skiing and snowboarding alike, and the village features a kids-only ski slope.

1er Ski Beginners Festival, Les Gets - March 2026

1er Ski Beginners Festival

New to skiing or snowboarding? Join us for the 1er Ski Beginners Festival in Les Gets for a resort-wide event. From 21st to 28th of March 2026: lessons, lift pass, equipment, chalet and socials in one easy package! Find out more.

For Intermediates / Advanced

For more experienced skiers and those looking to explore into further reaches, the full-area Portes du Soleil lift pass will give you access to the full 650km, taking you all the way to Switzerland and back in one day. If you're feeling brave, advanced skiers with a head for heights can attempt the famous and infamous "Swiss Wall" — a near-vertical drop of unforgiving moguls which is not to be taken lightly.

Off-Piste

On a powder day, off-piste skiers should head for the back of Mont Chery where it is always blissfully quiet. You will also find a couple of nice blacks and some not-too-taxing reds here, also. Beginners and improvers are will find more rewarding terrain on the other side of the village, however. An experienced local ski guide is always recommend for off-piste: just let us know and we can arrange that for you.

Les Gets Village

Les Gets is in many ways the definitive picture-postcard French ski resort. Traditional architecture, regional cuisine and the continued presence of friendly locals have kept this very much a quaint French village, mostly undiluted by the large numbers of visitors each year.

Les Gets is perhaps best known as a family ski destination, and those bringing young children will not be disappointed — there is plenty to keep skiing and non-skiing youngsters entertained. But it is misleading to suggest that Les Gets isn't equally suited to adults-only ski holidays. The bars and restaurants of the village centre offer a great night out for a mature group, even if a younger party-going crowd might look more readily to neighbouring Morzine.

Situated just one hour from Geneva, Les Gets is very easily accessible, making it especially popular for ski weekends and short breaks.

Rock The Pistes March 2024

There is an amazing festival held each year in Les Gets right on the pistes. This features acts from all genres of music. This year is no different, Rock the Pistes packs a number of concerts into one week, with open-air concerts right on the slopes that are only accessible by ski, and après-ski concerts every evening in the resort villages. Getting to Les Gets

If you are flying to Morzine or Les Gets then we would highly recommend you fly into Geneva (GVA) airport. Geneva airport is 73 kilometres from Morzine or Les Gets and has a transfer time of about one hour ten minutes. A lot of this is on motorway. This is the route almost everyone who flies in takes.

Lyon (LYS) airport is 199 kilometres from Morzine or Les Gets but It is usually better to avoid Lyon if possible as there are far fewer transfer options available.

Please let us know when you have booked your flights and we can arrange to have your transfers all ready and waiting for you when you land. We do not charge extra for organising this for you.

I am still buzzing long after the tripThis was my first time in the mountains skiing & I was apprehensive before the trip as I was not sure what the people would be like or if I could keep up. Fortunately there was a wide range of abilities with someone to ski with & the group was great at encouraging each other and bonding after. The food is wonderful every night as is the drinks that you can help yourself to. Special mention must go to Belinda a master of organisation and able to answer my many questions & point out the best places to ski & eat out. Nothing was too much trouble. Our chalet host Phoebe & Rosie served great breakfast/tea always with a smile. I am still buzzing long after the trip, would love to return next year.

Great food, great companyMy third holiday with Belinda and the team with The Ski Gathering in Les Gets. Great food, great company, comfortable accommodation very close to the Chevanne lift in Chalet des Pistes. I have skied with the over 50's group which has always had a good mixture of abilities so it never been a problem teaming up with others in the group with a similar level of skiing. Last, but by no means least, its great value for money.

Exceeded every expectationI've just returned from an incredible 3-day, 4-night trip to France with The Ski Gathering, and it exceeded every expectation. Belinda was our host and set the tone from the moment we arrived, welcoming, organised, and always making sure everyone felt included and relaxed. Olive, our chalet host, was absolutely wonderful. She cooked delicious meals every day and looked after us with such warmth and care that the chalet quickly felt like home. I travelled with my son, who has been 3 times before and loves it so much that he encouraged me to join him this year, especially as I'm turning 50 and wanted to do something memorable. I'm so glad I said yes. The atmosphere was friendly, supportive, and full of laughter, and it was a joy to share the experience with him. If you're considering a solo or shared-group ski holiday, I couldn't recommend The Ski Gathering more. It's the perfect blend of great people, great hosting, and a truly unforgettable few days in the mountains.

No one is left outMy third time with Ski Gathering and yet again it did not disappoint! New accommodation was great - smack in the centre of Les Gets. The catering was excellent & plentiful with great wines to accompany. What makes Ski Gathering so special is the team. Chalet staff were great and really helpful but Belinda is the star. She utterly looks after you from organising trips to making sure no one is left out. 5 stars - I totally recommend.

Surpassed my already high expectations! This was my first trip with The Ski Gathering and to the Porte du Soleil and both surpassed my already high expectations! Olivia & Ella were attentive chalet hosts and struck that elusive balance between professionalism & informality. The food was rustic & fresh, cakes with afternoon tea were delicious & local wines and beer plentiful. I had a cosy corner aspect room to myself with a view over Les Gets high street, although ear plugs are recommended if a light sleeper! Belinda took great care of us out on the slopes, as well as being a good laugh! I thoroughly enjoyed her expert guiding and my skiing came on as well. Last but not least I shared the chalet with a fabulous bunch of people! What more could I have asked for & when can I sign up for next year?!

It won't be my last! This was my second week in Les Gets with The Ski Gathering and I'm sure it won't be my last! Olivia and Ella did a brilliant job of looking after us all in Chalet des Pistes which is very conveniently located above a ski hire shop and just a stones throw from the main Chavannes lift... fresh cooked porridge, eggs and bacon each morning, delicious cakes for afternoon tea and lovely hearty dinners in the evening (with an endless supply of beer and wine to keep us well shielded from dry January!!) One of the major benefits of a Ski Gathering holiday in Les Gets is Belinda - resort manager extraordinaire - who seemingly has an ability to be in 3 places at once, can do admin anywhere and knows the answer to pretty much any question, however weird and wonderful it might be!!

What a great experience! This was my first time booking with ski gathering so I had no idea what to expect. What a great experience! Totally exceeded my expectations. Belinda was excellent in resort, getting us all organised and giving us great info and insider tips (and joining us for a really fun filled day on the slopes). A fantastic group of likeminded skiers and boarders. Chalet la fine was a good base, full of charm but with modern touches like comfy beds and good shower. Phoebe looked after us all really well and the food was great quality. I suspect this will not be my last trip with ski gathering!

I'm so glad I did!January 2026 Over 50s Ski Gathering at The Alpine Lodge/Loft, Les Gets. I was very keen to ski this year but had no-one to go with so, after scanning for options on the internet, I thought I'd trial The Ski Gathering … and I'm so glad I did! The accommodation was great - well kept, spacious and warm, and only a five minute walk to the Chavannes lift, and the ski hire shop (where we could leave our kit). Our chalet hosts Micah, Rosie and Olive looked after us well, including serving the brilliant meals prepared by chef Raphael. Belinda ,who heads up the Ski Gathering, made sure we were all sorted for the slopes by arranging ski hire, lift passes etc, and providing useful local knowledge. We were a mixed group of 16, aged between our mid-50s to 70s. Over half of the group already knew each other from previous Ski Gathering holidays, which they had enjoyed so much that they'd come back, time and again. If you are a solo skier don't let this dissuade you from coming along; The group was very inclusive, and there was always someone to ski with. The evenings were sociable and entertaining because we sat around en-masse, enjoying chats and the odd glass of wine (or two!) (There were also private spaces where you could have quiet time too). I did morning ski school (intermediate) with 4 of the other ladies from the chalet, and in the afternoon we met up with others from our chalet to ski. Les Gets has, in my opinion, some fab pistes for both beginners and intermediates, and a local ski pass was enough for some good adventures over the week. If, like me, you are looking for a solo ski holiday because your partner and friends don't ski, then I would suggest that The Ski Gathering is a great choice.

I met a great group of people and had the best time on the slopes and during apres! I've no doubt there will be another future trip with Ski Gathering!

It was a great trip to Les Gets with the Ski Gathering. Belinda was a great host and got everyone organised and showed us around the mountains. We ended up with a hardcore group of 8 skiers out of around 16 in the chalet. Great food and wine, and chalet staff. Would recommend for solo skiers who don't want to ski on their own.
