Meet other off-piste skiers and snowboarders on a social ski holiday

If you're a skier travelling alone or in a small group, you have come to the right place. Welcome to The Ski Gathering — social ski holidays for skiers and snowboarders of all abilities. Meet like-minded and sociable people on a ski holiday that's equally suited to day-one beginners and seasoned veterans alike.

We have decades of combined experience providing first-rate ski holidays. So we understand that a first solo ski trip can seem a little daunting, especially if you're travelling alone as a solo skier. Well, we're here to help. At The Ski Gathering, you won't be on your own — you'll be sharing with other guests who are in the same boat as you.

A typical day with The Ski Gathering on our Off-Piste holidays

No single supplement. What does that mean?

The single-occupancy supplement is generally the biggest headache for individual skiers travelling alone. Usually, solos have to pay a premium for the empty bed, making ski holidays unaffordable for most singles and solo skiers. With The Ski Gathering, you'll be sharing a room so there is no single supplement. Sharing a triple or quad room, you pay slightly less than those sharing a twin.

I had a super fun timeI was initially worried about skiing with a bunch of strangers but found that I had been worried over nothing! Everyone was delightful, friendly, inclusive, interesting and sociable. We all had people or groups we could ski with, all levels of ski skills were accommodated and this was all managed by the wonderful Belinda who recommended and introduced us to the delights of the wider ski area! Fabulous Phoebe provided us with aperitifs, wonderful meals and catering and a spotless chalet. I had a super fun time and really enjoyed the holiday, especially meeting lots of new lively people - including our hosts! I will definitely book again.

The atmosphere has consistently been superbI visited for the third time this year (2026) and the atmosphere has consistently been superb. The team make everyone feel at home and handle different skiing experience very well, with group skiing every day. Even time that I visited I have made new friends. Chalet Le Fine is very cosy and has a sauna, which proved great for alleviating stiff legs. The food was great, as usual, and our hostess, Phoebe, was unflappable, serving individual breakfasts and perfect teas and dinners. I highly recommend this holiday

Met lots of lovely peopleAnother great holiday with The Ski Gathering. Met lots of lovely people, had fun and skied together. We had great weather, sunny skies with lots of snow. Chalet food was excellent and Phoebe looked after us really well cooking breakfast for us each morning. Loved Chalet La Fine which was really cozy and great for the group. It was near the bus stop which made getting around easy too.

Could not have asked for betterPaul and Nina were simply the BEST hosts! Could not have asked for better. The food was excellent and the location works well as it's peaceful to be outside of the ski resort/center of town but very easy to get to both on the bus. My only complaint was that the beds were a bit hard and the pillows were uncomfortable. If you could have better pillows next year I will very much look forward to coming back!

Hopefully we will all come again next yearThis was my fourth visit to Les Gets with Ski Gathering for a 50+ solo holiday. From the very start it was well organised and very friendly. Belinda made us feel very welcome and explained how things worked, from ski passes and buses, to paying for 12 different drinks in the mountain cafe! This year we were in Chalet des Pistes which was very central, being above the ski hire shop, opposite Chavannes lift and across from the Black Bear pub! The bedroom was a good size and the living space was warm and well designed. Olivia and Ella were very efficient and obliging, coping with all our different requests and questions. Our group were very good company both on and off the piste and hopefully we will all come again next year. Overall i had a fantastic time skiing and staying at the chalet, thank you to all the hosts.

Everything was greatHad a fantastic week here with The Ski Gathering. Everything was great - room, food, service, location and of course, the people. Special thanks to Andy, Claire, Rudi and Simona. This was my second time with The Ski Gathering. Most of the group were returners which I thinks shows how good these Ski Gathering holidays are!

One of my best experiences everFirst time with The Ski Gathering and what an amazing experience, it was just what I needed for celebrating my retirement, spending time doing one of my favourite sports and meeting exceptionally fun and like minded people. The chalet was great with Ella and Olivia ensuring everything was provided for us (above and beyond). Belinda, well what can I say, she was born to be a ski guide, her love for meeting new people and taking the time to individually get to know each and everyone was a gift she shared with enthusiasm. Her local knowledge was that extra which really made this holiday one of my best experiences ever so BIG THANK YOU to The Ski Gathering! I will return.

10/10, would go again in a heartbeat!I had the most incredible stay at Hotel Heitzmann with The Ski Gathering, honestly one of the best ski trips I've ever taken. The hotel itself is a fabulous boutique spot, with a cozy bar and lounge that made pre- and post-dinner drinks such a highlight of each day. Its location couldn't be better, just a short walk to both the bus stop and the gondola, which made getting on the slopes effortless. The Ski Gathering package was exceptional value, with everything so well thought out. The trip to the Glacier was a real standout, and having both breakfast and dinners included made the whole experience seamless and relaxing. A special mention has to go to Thomas who stayed late to welcome me and get me checked in when my flight was delayed and Andy, who is an absolutely wonderful host, friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about making sure everyone has a great time. 10/10, would go again in a heartbeat!

Every moment was memorableI had an absolutely wonderful time at Chalet Chery des Meuniers in January 2026! The hosts, Paul and Nina, were incredible, so kind, helpful, and welcoming. Every meal they prepared was delicious, and as someone with dietary restrictions, I was thrilled to have so many options and enjoy my holiday without any limitations. As a solo traveler, one of the highlights of joining a group trip like this is meeting new people, and the fellow guests did not disappoint. The evenings hold a special place in my heart, whether it was playing games, impromptu dance class, or simply sharing laughs together, every moment was memorable. As other reviews have mentioned, the chalet is only a short bus ride away from Morzine and Avoriaz so it's easy to get either slopes to ski. I simply can't recommend this trip, the hosts and the chalet enough.

The holiday surpassed my best expectationsFor one reason or another the 12 of us in the chalet found themselves with no one obvious or available to ski with. Booked with slight trepidation the holiday surpassed my best expectations. A very pleasant spotlessly clean chalet hosted by the delightful Phoebe, centrally prepared excellent plentiful food, fantastic post-ski cakes with ample wine and beer. Resort manager Belinda always at hand with advice and tips about life in general and every run, lift, restaurant and accessible loo in the Porte du Soleil area plus the bonus of being able to ski with her for a couple of days getting a much better experience of the area. For those wary, don't be, just let me get my booking in first for 2027!

Brilliant as alwaysMy third trip to Les Gets with Ski Gathering which says it all. A new chalet this year with a location which cannot be beaten. It is just across the road and a few footsteps from the main ski lifts. Olivia and Ella look after the chalet and do an amazing job. The standard of food and cleanliness is high and above all they are both extremely friendly. Belinda was brilliant as always. She looks after a lot of people but gets to know everyone individually. The most important thing for me is that she books me FaFa - the best ski instructor in Les Gets (for me anyway). I plan to go back next year.

It was a real delightHad a great week pretty near perfect . The Chalet was great really perfectly located for the lifts , the bars and shops . Cosy and spacious good facilities , food was plentiful and tasty . Booze to help yourself. The girls Olivia and Ella charming and helpful. The main group skied most days with Belinda who so organised everything for us it was a real delight, she was a great team leader who knew her way round perfectly and offered useful advice where needed. I guess I was lucky in joining a crowd of lovely folks we skied mostly all together and apres'd as a group. Made so lovely friends and hope to repeat the experience.

The course includes a full 22 hours of instruction throughout the week.

With La Plagne's excellent snow coverage and access to high-altitude glaciers, off-piste adventures are usually well within reach. However, for your safety, the final decision on off-piste guiding will depend on suitable snow and weather conditions. In the event that conditions are deemed unsuitable, the ski school will adapt the guiding to make the most of on-piste terrain instead.

Allowing you to ski faster and more accurately on-piste and with more control and competence off-piste this week will redefine how you view the mountain and backcountry.

How It Works

There is a clear focus on teaching you to deal with a wide variety of snow conditions confidently. This is all done under the watchful eye of fully qualified experienced instructors. This course zeros in on the tactics and techniques required to successfully navigate powder, steeps, bumps and also a bit of freestyle.

On the Friday, the instructors will lead the group on a full day of off-piste adventure. There will be a day off on Wednesday. The afternoons are free to do as you please.

Who Is This For?

This course is designed for solid confident capable on-piste skiers. It is important that you have the ability and fitness levels required to participate in this course. These requirements will be enforced by the instructors and anyone who does not meet their criteria will not be allowed to participate. A reasonable level of fitness is required but this will be built on during the week.

Minimum Requirements

Off-piste experience is not mandatory, but you are required to be either a level 6 or level 7 skier to join the off-piste week. This means you should be a competent all piste (Blue / Red / Black) skier, in all snow conditions. You should have advanced skills in parallel turning and be comfortable on reds and blacks. You should have skied at least 8 times or more. You should be able to handle small moguls and a light amount of off-piste. You should aim to start feeling pretty fit.

Awesome ski week! Have had many ski trips in the past but never solo to a chalet, initially unsure what to expect but more than exceeded expectations. Whole group friendly fun and ski/boarded together everyday all over the resort. Chalet hosts really welcoming to cosy modern and well catered meals.
