A budget-friendly way to enjoy a ski holiday in the company of like-minded solo skiers. Spend time with your fellow guests, hit the slopes solo or with a group, and the best part is, there's no single supplement! Enjoy all that Les Portes du Soleil has to offer without breaking the bank.

Whether you're travelling alone or with a small group, you have come to the right place. Welcome to The Ski Gathering — a social event for skiers and snowboarders of all levels. Meet new people with similar interests on a skiing trip. Our ski holidays are suitable for both absolute novices and regular red run cruisers.

A simplified approach to chalet holidays

On our Budget Ski Holidays, we do things the simple way, which is what helps make these holidays such good value.

For example, you'll enjoy a continental breakfast in the morning, a two-course evening meal, and skip the usual afternoon tea for a well deserved après-ski.

We also select chalets that offer everything you need for a great holiday but without the frills to really bring you value. Please do note if you've been to some of our other chalets before that our budget ski holidays do offer a simpler experience that some of our more luxurious offerings.

A typical day on our Budget Ski Holiday

No single supplement. What does that mean?

The single-occupancy supplement is generally the biggest headache for individual skiers travelling alone. Usually, solos have to pay a premium for the empty bed, making ski holidays unaffordable for most singles and solo skiers. With The Ski Gathering, you'll be sharing a room so there is no single supplement. Sharing a triple or quad room, you pay slightly less than those sharing a twin.

Surpassed my already high expectations! This was my first trip with The Ski Gathering and to the Porte du Soleil and both surpassed my already high expectations! Olivia & Ella were attentive chalet hosts and struck that elusive balance between professionalism & informality. The food was rustic & fresh, cakes with afternoon tea were delicious & local wines and beer plentiful. I had a cosy corner aspect room to myself with a view over Les Gets high street, although ear plugs are recommended if a light sleeper! Belinda took great care of us out on the slopes, as well as being a good laugh! I thoroughly enjoyed her expert guiding and my skiing came on as well. Last but not least I shared the chalet with a fabulous bunch of people! What more could I have asked for & when can I sign up for next year?!

It won't be my last! This was my second week in Les Gets with The Ski Gathering and I'm sure it won't be my last! Olivia and Ella did a brilliant job of looking after us all in Chalet des Pistes which is very conveniently located above a ski hire shop and just a stones throw from the main Chavannes lift... fresh cooked porridge, eggs and bacon each morning, delicious cakes for afternoon tea and lovely hearty dinners in the evening (with an endless supply of beer and wine to keep us well shielded from dry January!!) One of the major benefits of a Ski Gathering holiday in Les Gets is Belinda - resort manager extraordinaire - who seemingly has an ability to be in 3 places at once, can do admin anywhere and knows the answer to pretty much any question, however weird and wonderful it might be!!

What a great experience! This was my first time booking with ski gathering so I had no idea what to expect. What a great experience! Totally exceeded my expectations. Belinda was excellent in resort, getting us all organised and giving us great info and insider tips (and joining us for a really fun filled day on the slopes). A fantastic group of likeminded skiers and boarders. Chalet la fine was a good base, full of charm but with modern touches like comfy beds and good shower. Phoebe looked after us all really well and the food was great quality. I suspect this will not be my last trip with ski gathering!

I'm so glad I did!January 2026 Over 50s Ski Gathering at The Alpine Lodge/Loft, Les Gets. I was very keen to ski this year but had no-one to go with so, after scanning for options on the internet, I thought I'd trial The Ski Gathering … and I'm so glad I did! The accommodation was great - well kept, spacious and warm, and only a five minute walk to the Chavannes lift, and the ski hire shop (where we could leave our kit). Our chalet hosts Micah, Rosie and Olive looked after us well, including serving the brilliant meals prepared by chef Raphael. Belinda ,who heads up the Ski Gathering, made sure we were all sorted for the slopes by arranging ski hire, lift passes etc, and providing useful local knowledge. We were a mixed group of 16, aged between our mid-50s to 70s. Over half of the group already knew each other from previous Ski Gathering holidays, which they had enjoyed so much that they'd come back, time and again. If you are a solo skier don't let this dissuade you from coming along; The group was very inclusive, and there was always someone to ski with. The evenings were sociable and entertaining because we sat around en-masse, enjoying chats and the odd glass of wine (or two!) (There were also private spaces where you could have quiet time too). I did morning ski school (intermediate) with 4 of the other ladies from the chalet, and in the afternoon we met up with others from our chalet to ski. Les Gets has, in my opinion, some fab pistes for both beginners and intermediates, and a local ski pass was enough for some good adventures over the week. If, like me, you are looking for a solo ski holiday because your partner and friends don't ski, then I would suggest that The Ski Gathering is a great choice.

Another amazing experienceI've just returned from my second trip with The Ski Gathering and had another amazing experience. Chalet La Fine was lovely with great food, a warm, cosy atmosphere, and a sauna. The chalet host Phoebe was friendly and helpful and Belinda the resort rep was once again, an absolute super-woman with ensuring everything is organised. I met a great group of people and had the best time on the slopes and during apres! I've no doubt there will be another future trip with Ski Gathering!

A great way to meet peopleAnother amazing week with the ski gathering. The chalet is so well positioned, the food is excellent, Olivia was an amazing host and Belinda just ties everything together beautifully. It's a great way to meet people and so much is thought of that you can just concentrate on trying to put your weight forward down the mountain! Thanks again.

Thank you so much everyone!Well, I enjoyed my trip with the Ski Gathering last year so much that I went again this year, and once again, I'm glad I did. Splendidly cared for by Olivia, Ella, Emma, and the peerless Belinda, I arrived on Jan 11th as a depressed, bitter old snowboarder, and after a week on the pistes with total strangers (bar two others from last year), left on the 18th as a cheerful, optimistic, bitter old snowboarder. Thank you so much everyone!

Making new friends is always funThis is my 4th week with the Ski Gathering in Les Gets in an over 50's week. Varied skiing whatever your ability. Great food, wine, beautiful chalet and many laughs. My bedroom was a bit small. We were looked after really well by Micah, Oli and Rosie - thanks all. The food was fabulous and chef Raphael's enthusiasm is contagious. Meeting lots of different people from various backgrounds and making new friends, is always fun. And then there's Belinda - always efficient and helpful (and the occasional ski guiding, sharp wit and p#ss taking come free, apparently)! I'll be back...

An amazing weekWe had an amazing week with the Ski Gathering this time Jan '26 at The Alpine Lodge in Les Gets. The chalet is beautiful, comfortable, and perfectly set up for a ski holiday. with lifts a 5 minute walk. Being fully catered made everything effortless, with delicious food throughout the day. What really made the stay special was the staff - friendly, professional, and always happy to help. A entertaining chef proud to introduce his delicious French cuisine. Belinda was as usual simply outstanding: attentive, organised, and genuinely dedicated to making our stay perfect. We left feeling completely looked after and would absolutely return. Highly recommend.

It felt almost surrealIt was absolutely beyond my expectation, I joined Ski Gathering for a week and it felt almost surreal. I felt like I was living in a cozy American( or British lol) family TV show for a week. Everyone of my group is cool, chill , friendly, uniquely themselves , with pure kindness. I could hardly believe this was really happening in real life. The staff of Ski Gathering were very helpful and provided an excellent service throughout the week. A special thank you to our hosts, Olivia and Belinda, for making this experience so memorable. It's one of those rare experiences that stays with you long after it ends.

What is Après-Ski

Beside being a popular and lively bar on the Front de Neige in Les Gets, après-ski is a concept on its own! Literally the French term for "after skiing", this is the time to celebrate a day on the slopes after your last run. Hit the bars as soon as the lifts stop, or anytime after lunch really, the choice is yours!

Skiing in March or April?

Skiing in March, you'll find fewer families around, and less of those snaking trails of beginners on the slopes. Skiing in April, you'll experience the party-vibe that spring brings to the resort's centre (when après-ski tends to start earlier). It's warm, it's sunny, and it's very relaxed. Plus, we often get a big dump of snow in late March, and we've had some of our best skiing then! So don't forget your sunscreen when you hit the slopes, head for a walk, or spend a long lazy lunch on the sun-bathed terrace of a mountain restaurant!
